24 Father’s Day gift ideas for dad

One idea from each kind of dad, because this is one gift for one person rather than a list of twelve. There is no freight crush in September, so fit matters more than speed here.

Before you order

Father’s Day in Australia is the first Sunday in September, which puts it in early spring and well clear of the Christmas freight crush. That is the single biggest practical difference: the post network is not under strain, so the delivery window is far more forgiving than most people assume.

The commercial shape of the day is worth knowing before you set a budget. In 2025 Australians spent $720 million, down $100 million on the year before, while the average person who bought a gift spent $145, up almost 44% (ARA and Roy Morgan, August 2025). Both are true because the number of people buying anything fell by nearly half, from 36% of Australians aged 14 and over to 20%. Fewer people bought, and those who did spent considerably more.

Unlike Christmas, this is usually one gift for one person rather than a gift on a list of twelve. That makes fit matter more than price, and it is why starting from what Dad actually does on a Saturday beats starting from a budget.
