More on buying for the cricket dad
Cricket dad is three different men and the gifts do not overlap. The one who still plays fourth grade needs gear, and gear is sized, weighted and personal, which makes it a difficult gift unless you know exactly what he uses. The one who coaches juniors needs the things that get destroyed by a season of use. The one who watches the Boxing Day Test from the couch needs neither.
Work out which one he is before you look at anything. Buying playing gear for a watcher is the classic miss in this category, and it is obvious to him immediately.
