More on buying for the tennis dad

The distance between social doubles and a real ranking is enormous in this category, and getting it wrong is expensive in both directions. A serious player has a racquet chosen for weight, balance and string pattern, and will not use another one. A social player does not need one.

Everything around the racquet is safer. Strings, grips, dampeners, balls and bags get replaced constantly and are not personal in the way a frame is. If he plays weekly, a restring is worth more to him than most objects at the same price.
