When was Dad a teenager?
Almost nobody can tell you what their dad wants. Almost everybody can tell you what he was into at seventeen. That is a far more useful starting point, and it is a question you can actually answer about someone else.

The generation labels are there because people use both. They describe the same person.

A note on how thin some decades are
The seventies and nineties are well covered. The eighties and two-thousands are thinner, because Australian retailers that publish a readable price simply do not stock much of it. We would rather show you a short honest list than pad it with things we could not verify.
