20 gifts for the shed dad
Ordered by how quickly they arrive, then by price. Never by what earns us the most.
The dad who fixes things and would rather not walk to the shed. It carries a blade, so it cannot be posted to every destination and cannot be taken through an airport in hand luggage.
Has a cutting edge. eBay Australia sells it to over-18s only and verifies age at checkout.
The dad still working off a corded drill or a dying no-name cordless. Skip it if he is already on a different 18V platform, because the batteries do not cross over.
The dad with a Makita 18V collection and a long way to the nearest cafe. Pointless for anyone on a different battery platform, which is the one thing to check before buying it.
The dad already running Milwaukee tools, or anyone carrying gear between a ute and a job rather than working out of a fixed shed. Less suited to someone at a bench all day, where a chest or a drawer unit does more.
The shed dad owns most things, which means price is a poor guide and specificity is everything. He does not need another drill. He needs the attachment for the drill he has, in the size he keeps not buying because it costs eleven dollars and he is already at the counter with something else.
The two categories that work are consumables and the tool he would never buy himself. Consumables because he genuinely runs out, and the good ones cost more than he will pay. The unbought tool because there is always one job he does badly with the wrong implement and has decided to keep doing badly.
