Why we picked it
This is the shoe for the dad whose running is mostly footpaths and park loops, and who wants one pair that does the run and the rest of Saturday. The caged upper holds the foot steadier than most soft shoes, which matters to anyone who rolls an ankle on a kerb, and the black colourway does not look like gym gear at a barbecue. At $180 against On’s own $280 it was the lowest price we found for this model on the day it was checked.
