What it is

A thumb-sized adapter that plugs into the car’s USB port and turns factory wired Apple CarPlay or Android Auto into a wireless connection. After the first setup it pairs by itself whenever he starts the car.

Why we picked it

It removes the one thing that makes an otherwise good car irritating, which is fishing the cable out for a ten minute run to the shops. He plugs it in once and leaves it there, and the phone is connected before he has done up his seatbelt. Check one thing before you buy: the car needs factory wired CarPlay or Android Auto already, and Ottocast state 2016 or newer. It does not add CarPlay to a car that never had it.
